NEW BEDFORD, MA - Those who know me and have heard, appreciated or not appreciated my advocacy, for those less fortunate than others and I, or do not have the time to invest in their own political best interests, there are many of us who will continue to alert and bring attention to those who cannot. Those of us who pay close attention to, review, watch closely, understand the political process and game that elected and appointed public officials are addicted to play and often spoon feed for public consumption, hopefully will begin to understand with the upcoming national election with Barack Obama , what his election would mean to the American masses. This article was originally was intended to be a positive expose of the new Waterfront Grille recently opened on New Bedford's waterfront. However, after our disturbing experience there on opening night, it turned into a diatribe of the anti-tourist business practices of many New Bedford restaurants. Read on and see if you find yourself agreeing with me or I'm just a whiny persnickety bitch.
NEW BEDFORD, MA - Those who know us well, know we spend way to much money eating away from home. Our hectic schedule simply demands that we either eat on the fly or we are too burned out to bother cooking. We don't do microwave. We are major fans of Sid Wainer's products, travel to Cambridge often to shop at Trader Joe's and make the sojourn to Lee's in Westport for more interesting eats. We have our local spots (non-New Bedford) to which we go and hide and unwind from the dysfunction that is classic New Bedford. For us, it's less about the food quality and more about comfort and pleasant service. Good staff can always make up for a bad day in the kitchen. Bottom line, we seek out places that are comfortable, pleasant, polite and accept debit or credit cards. When we find those places, we frequent often. Write Comment

NEW BEDFORD, MA - VIDEO It has been quite awhile since I have produced a video on the disgusting trash habits of some New Bedford residents and the local government's seemingly inept ability to do anything about it. There is a desire on the part of good people to clean up New Bedford, but so far nothing has worked. Not neighborhood clean ups, not robotic trash cans, not private groups, not endless discussion on WBSM and on the Standard Times and Whalingcity.info forums. The Mayor has produced several clean up videos; all campy and all to no effect. Not even the placement of 200 wire frame trash cans has stopped the onslaught of litter and lousy trash habits. Jerry Pinto and Lynn Coish have become local heroes in their efforts to get New Bedford cleaned up. We are all fed up. WHY does this continue?
