Two males arrested for assault |

 George DeMello  Caleb Galary NEW BEDFORD, MA - On Sunday, April 1, 2007 at approximately 3:45 pm, Ofc. Dean Lawrence came upon Jared Medina on Blackmer St. this individual was visibly injured.
Medina stated that he had been robbed and "pistol whipped". Upon further investigation, it was learned that Caleb Galary had lured Medina to 59 Sidney St., apartment 1 east. Once inside, George DeMello struck the victim in the face several times with a firearm and proceeded to rob him of cash and his cellular phone.
Medina made his way out of the apartment to an awaiting car. Three of Medina’s friends observed DeMello exit the apartment with a black firearm in his hand.
At this time, our Detectives Division was called out to assist in the investigation. As a result of these interviews, search warrants were secured for 59 Sidney St., as well as 16 Woodlawn St., where DeMello was living.
At 59 Sidney St., Caleb Galary was found to be in possession of approximately 4 ounces of suspected marijuana, $127.00 in cash, suspected percocet tablets and a pair of brass knuckles.
At 16 Woodlawn St., DeMello was found to be in possession of suspected Oxycotin tablets, suspected marijuana, $1,385.00 in cash and a money-counting machine. Both parties were taken into custody on drug-related, as well as armed robbery charges. The firearm used in the assault has yet to be recovered at this time.

- Poss class B with intent in a School zone
- Poss class D
- Poss of fireworks
Arrested:
- Caleb Galary age 23 of 59 Sidney St NB [MAP]
Charges:
- Poss of class D&C with intent
- Armed Robbery
- A&B dangerous weapon
The Arresting Officer was Det. Dean Lawrence and the Gang Unit, Patrol and also our Detective Division assisted him.
