Men attempt to flee from warrant apprehension team |

 James Stringer  Matthew Hancock NEW BEDFORD, MA - On Thursday, April 26, 2007 at approximately 7:00 am Detectives assigned to the Warrant Apprehension Team along with Trooper David Reis attempted to serve an arrest warrant at 124 Maxfield St.
As the Detectives announced their presence, a male on the other side of the door started to run up the stairs, As the Officers detained the suspect other Detectives were checking the other rooms looking for the person named in the warrant. During the search a loaded .45 cal semi automatic handgun was located. No one in the apartment had a license for the firearm.
The investigation is still ongoing and Detectives are in the process of obtaining a search warrant for the apartment.
The handgun was reported stolen out of Fairhaven several years ago.
Arrested:
James Stringer age 26 of 124 Maxfield St NB [MAP]
Charges:
Unlawful Possession of a firearm (2) Receiving stolen property
Arrested:
Matthew Hancock age 22 of 339 Main St Acushnet, MA [MAP]
Charges:
(Poss of class B w/i to distribute in a school zone
